Gardenerd
Christy Wilhelmi of Gardenerd designed and planted the victory garden for the Marrakesh House. Using rich organic soil amendments, organic seeds and starts, and Trex decking (a product made from recycled materials), Christy created a lush, productive food garden for the home’s residents and visitors to enjoy. The fall garden included broccoli, peas, herbs, lettuces and an abundance of other greens. The spring garden features tomatoes, squash, eggplant, and corn, along with permanent crops such as artichokes, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and 3 fruit trees. Other garden elements include a drought tolerant entryway featuring succulents, sages and lavenders. This food garden will save Marrakesh House residents hundreds of dollars a year in grocery bills for salad greens alone.

Gardenerd offers organic gardening classes, hands-on consulting and food garden design. Visit Gardenerd.com (the ultimate resource for garden nerds) for free tips and tidbits, benefitting beginning & veteran gardeners alike!
